What You Can Expect to do as a PowHERful Woman Mentor and get as a Mentee
When you join the PowHERful Women Mentoring Program, you’ll be matched with a mentor who’s experienced in the skilled trades and passionate about helping other women succeed. Together, you’ll build a professional relationship that’s supportive, practical, and inspiring.
As a mentee, you can expect to:
Explore career options across the skilled trades and identify roles that fit your interests, strengths, and goals
Get personalized guidance on training programs, apprenticeships, certifications, and pathways into the industry
Build professional skills—from communication and teamwork to interview prep and job readiness
Gain insight into real-world work environments, safety expectations, and what employers are looking for
Expand your network through introductions to other skilled trade professionals and union representatives
Receive ongoing encouragement and accountability as you set goals and take action toward your career future

Program Format
The PowHERful Women Mentoring Program is designed to fit your and your mentor’s schedule while providing meaningful, structured support.
- Length: 6-months – 1 year mentoring experience (with opportunities to continue informally afterward)
- Meetings: The number of monthly meetings will be decided by the mentor and the mentee. One-on-one meetings in-person or virtual (will be dependent on location of mentor and mentee)
- Matching Process: Mentees are paired with mentors based on trade interest, experience level, and personal goals
- Support Network: Access to career resources, job readiness tools, and invitations to PowHERful Women community events
- Time Commitment: Approximately 1–3 hours per month, focused on connection, growth, and goal setting
By the end of the program, mentees will have a clearer vision of their career path, stronger professional connections, and the confidence to take the next step in the skilled trades.
