Tips for Community-Based Organizations and Workforce Development Systems
- Build partnerships with other CBOs, local Workforce Development Boards, and American Job Centers to access WIOA resources
- Maintain a directory of energy-focused apprenticeship sponsors and training providers in your region
- Encourage clients to combine funding sources e.g., WIOA + union apprenticeship + nonprofit scholarships
- Provide assistance with applications, eligibility documentation, and financial aid forms to reduce barriers to individuals pursuing energy careers
- Advise clients on the importance of preparing themselves for the many careers in energy through apprentice readiness and pre-apprentice programs, the earning of credentials, certifications and licensure, and the pursuit of apprenticeships
