What the job really is
- Own scope, schedule, budget; manage Requests for Information (RFI), which are formal project questions, and submittals, change orders, and procurement.
- Coordinate designers, contractors, utilities, local inspectors, and permitting agencies; manage risk and safety.
- Lead site meetings, quality assurance and quality control testing, commissioning, and turnover documentation.
- Track cost and cash flow; forecast and report to stakeholders.
- Keep stakeholders aligned—client, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partners, trades, and operations.
A day in the life
- Morning site walk and safety huddle; review three week look ahead.
- Update schedule; resolve Requests for Information/submittals with design team.
- Subcontractor coordination; inspect mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems progress and quality.
- Cost report update; approve invoices; manage change requests.
- Commissioning/punchlist review; client check in; notes and next steps.
